Why no update for December checkpoints on the Sheriff’s website?

    • Posted December 19, 2011 at 16:23 | Permalink | Reply

Robert, I noticed that too. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is required to publicly announce or publish information about upcoming roadblocks or checkpoints. Traditionally, a lot of checkpoints are conducted around the Christmas and New Years holidays. As of today, the list contains information on low-man checkpoints, saturations, and heightened patrol, as well as whether BAT or transport is provided for the time period of October 27, 2011 through November 30, 2011. For anyone arrested at a checkpoint from November 30, 2011, through today they may have a claim that the checkpoint was invalid because no information was published in advance (and therefore evidence obtained during the checkpoint should be suppressed).

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office also publishes “news releases” at http://www.hcso.tampa.fl.us/About-HCSO/Press-Releases.aspx however I’ve never seen information about checkpoints published there. Anyone know why the update for December is missing?
